Mat's Wedding (Page 1)Page 1 - Page 2 Mat got married to Becky on the 31st July 2004. The wedding was held in the Ashton Memorial at the Williamson Park in Lancaster. The memorial looks fantastic and is at the highest point of lancaster apparently. Unfortunately i didn't get any good photos of it from outside, but you can see it here - http://www.williamsonpark.com/Pages/Memorial.html. I can't tell you how terrifying it was to see the tree-hugging hippie bastard getting wed! Luckily there seems to be bugger all chance of that happening to me in the near future on current form!!!
Apparently, Mat was more worried about whether we were going to turn up than if Becky would. I say worried, more like he was having a panic attack! Granted we cut it a little fine, we got there at about 3 minutes to. We'd been in the pub for a quick pint before the ceremony, then decided we'd best get a quick KFC on the way as we knew the reception was going to be a vegetarian do! Also, a few members of the group were still getting changed at 2.40 and we didn't really know the way to the memorial! Organised as ever.
Apparently this is Mat, Becky and bridesmaids after the ceremony. However, we did have to perform DNA testing to ensure that it was Mat, since noone had ever seen him wearing anything other than an unironed shirt and grey trousers before. On a serious note though, everyone involved looked fantastic, even Jamie!
Pongo, Smithy, Caz and Spicer outside afterwards whilst the marathon (twice as long as the ceremony) photo session was going on! It should be noted that this isn't the closest Smithy and Caz got on the day!!! :o)
Mat seems to be suffering some hideous facial disorder (more so!) Or it could be confetti.
A couple of shots from during the reception meal. The reception was held at St. Martins College. Very handy as it has cheap studenty accommodation, is next door to Williamson Park and, most importantly, has a bar at student prices!! As i mentioned, the reception was vegetarian only, an idea that hed me running scared. Credit where due it was actually quite nice, though obviously a steak would have been better!! :o)
The happy couple just before the speeches. It always amazes me how people who have just got married can manage to keep up the smile constantly for every photo all day! Probably the relief that they don't have to plan it any more.
The father of the bride speaks.
Mat introduced his speech as being 'short but sweet, like his bride.' In truth it was 45 minutes long and mostly a series of thank you's, but it's got to be done. Apparently he was going to say the speech was 'short and simple, like his bride', but sensibly he changed his mind on that one!! Page 1 - Page 2
